Mount Soledad -- My Views

 On June 30, 2014, the Supreme Court denied certiorari before judgement. Justice Samuel Alito stated in a personal statement that certiorari was not yet warranted because the appeal of Judge Burns' order has not yet been heard by the Court of Appeals.[3] The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 contained a provision making space available for the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial.[57]

On July 31, 2008, U.S. Federal Judge Larry Alan Burns ruled that the cross could remain, writing, "The Court finds the memorial at Mt. Soledad, including its Latin cross, communicates the primarily non-religious messages of military service, death and sacrifice. As such, despite its location on public land, the memorial is Constitutional." The case was then sent to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, as cases Nos. 08-56415 and 08-56436, which reversed his decision in 2011.

Architect Donald Campbell designed the present cross in recessed concrete. It is 29 feet (8.8 m) tall (43 feet tall including the base) with a 12-foot (3.7 m) arm spread.

La Jolla, is a beautiful place in San Diego county as evident from the above pictures. I am so blessed to be able to share this time in my life with my awesome nieces and husband. It was an honor to honor those that have served, whom are serving and whom will serve. Thanks to all who support the Mount Soledad monument and fight to keep the Flag at the monument.

Whatever the outcome maybe I am blessed and honored to have seen it in person

The Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Amen.

OSAMA BIN LADEN --- DEAD

There are some great posts on Facebook today and i thought that i would put a few of my favorites here so later i can scrap them :)

1. Now I lay me down to sleep, one less terrorist this world does keep.
With all my heart I give my thanks, to those in uniform regardless of ranks.
You serve our country and serve it well, with humble hearts your stories tell.
So as I rest my weary eyes, while freedom rings, our flag still flies.
You give your all, do what you must, with God we live and in God we trust. Amen.

2. From the bottom of my heart a big Thank you to all the men and women who has fought to keep our freedom and to help make this country safer! God bless our troops!!!

3.  Let's not give credit to Bush or Obama for the death of Osama Bin-Laden, but to the troops who have been putting their lives on the line since this whole thing started. God bless them and their families. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it

4.  Victory is ours...AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5.  God bless the Navy Seals who performed this mission and please, Lord, bless the hundreds of thousands of people who's lives have been so destroyed by this man.

6. When will you be coming home... I guess soon we will know, but until that day comes, this I can show.. I owe you my life, my honor, my thanks, to each and every soldier in every single rank.. Just smile for me soldier and know your not alone... for you have the support from every american back home...7.  A HUGE THANK YOU to our military, who have sacrificed, died, suffered, and worked hard, to fight people like Osama Bin Laden. YOU are the ones we thank. YOU are the ones who deserve ALL CREDIT. Thank a soldier for bringing due justice for those lost on 9/11 and all the victims around the world who suffered from his commands

8.  Ding Dong The son-of-a-b#*$* is DEAD !9.  One nation under GOD!!! Its not over but this is definitly a high point. May none of our soldiers or any of the victims of 9-11's deaths be in vain... GOD SPEED to our military. THANK YOU for all you do!

10.  The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.

Thinking about doing a GRUNION run

Grunion are two fish species of the genus Leuresthes: the California grunion, L. tenuis, and the Gulf grunion L. sardinas. They are sardine-sized teleost fish of the Atherinopsidae family of New World silversides, found only off the coast of California, USA, and Baja California, Mexico where the species is found on both the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California coasts.

Grunion are known for their unusual mating ritual whereby at very high tides the females come up on to sandy beaches where they dig their tails into the sand to lay their eggs. The male then wraps himself around the female to deposit his sperm and for the next ten days the grunion eggs remain hidden in the sand. At the next set of high tides the eggs hatch and the young grunion are washed out to sea.
A related species the false grunion (Colpichthys regis) lives in the Gulf of California. Although the fish looks and acts similar, it does not have the same breeding method.

Loving Monday night TV ... yeah

My two favorite shows are on - secret life of an american teenager and make it or break it :)

RECAP TIME
Kaylie is frustrated with her stay in Rehab, and wants more than ever to get back to training at The Rock. Maeve begins to coach Kaylie on what to say to get out of rehab quicker.

Steve introduces Darby Conrad, the 25 year old, two- time Olympian, and Silver medalist as the new Rock Coach. Everyone, especially Payson, is skeptical of Darby‘s coaching abilities. Lauren is overjoyed because Darby was Lauren‘s ―Big Sister at NGO camp. Darby meets the girls with a bubbly personality making her clearly more of a cheer-leader than a gym-leader.
Darby informs the girls that she won‘t be imposing any dating rules or curfews on the girls. She trust that they as gymnast and women have the self control needed for their profession.
Now that Darby is the new coach, Lauren asks to be her second in command as the new team captain in Kaylie‘s absence. Both Emily and Payson disagree that Lauren should be captain, and Darby has Payson and Lauren compete for the title.
Damon is back in Boulder to record, and Emily is happy because she can finally see him without sneaking around.
Kaylie‘s therapist approves Kaylie to go home but doesn‘t clear her to begin training. She suggest to her parents that she use this time to develop other interest.
Steve asks Summer for a second chance at their relationship. Summer agrees and they are officially back together again.
Marcus the NGO rep informs Emily and Chloe that the NGO has decided to keep Emily on the National team, provided she signs a contract that outlines rules such as no boyfriends, no job, and no social activities. Ronnie and Alex put together a recording studio for Kaylie to pursue singing.
Still upset that she can‘t train, Kaylie tells Emily that Damon can use the recording studio her parents gave her in their home.
Emily has to tell Damon that things must go back to the way they were before the rules were lifted but she is ready to have sex with him before they are separated again.

What we will miss in 2010

Funny thing --- i am not much of a TV watcher and as i read this list ... there were shows on it that i had never heard of :(

Sometimes, losing a TV show is like losing a close friend. You get used to seeing it every single week, and you can't imagine your life without those characters and that world.   Then again, sometimes a show just needs to end. Maybe it ran too long -- or just enough -- and it's actually OK that it wont' be on air anymore.

Here's the ultimate list of all of the shows that saw their last episode in 2010. (Note: these are just the shows that had their last episode this past year, not shows that have been canceled but still have episodes to air in 2011, such as 'Oprah' and 'Stargate Universe.')

'24.' Finally, Agent Jack Bauer will have time to go to the bathroom as the Fox show came to an end. There might be a big-screen movie, though.

'As The World Turns.' It's sad when a soap ends. First CBS canceled 'Guiding Light' in 2009 after 57 years and then they canceled 'As The World Turns' after 54 years.

'At the Movies.' After going through many hosts over the past 30 plus years, this movie review show finally ended in 2010. But don't worry, Roger Ebert has a new movie review show that will premiere in 2011, 'Roger Ebert Presents: At The Movies.'

'Better Off Ted.' This is the comedy that had fans swearing that they'll never watch ABC again. A clever, quirky show that was definitely an acquired taste, but wouldn't it be good to have a show like this on network TV right now?

'Dark Blue.' This TNT cop show starring Dylan McDermott was canceled after two seasons.

'The Deep End.' It seems like we have a new legal show that gets canceled every single season. This show got bad reviews and was canceled rather quickly.

'Fly Girls' and 'High Society.' These two shows had a lot in common. They were both on The CW, they were both reality shows ('Fly Girls' was about flight attendants and 'High Society' was about a socialite and her friends), and both lasted only 8 episodes.

'The Forgotten.' No jokes about the title are even necessary.

'The Gates,' 'Happy Town,' and 'Persons Unknown.' These three shows -- the first two on ABC and the other on NBC -- seemed to have been built for one season runs. But all could have seen second seasons too. 'The Gates' wasn't too bad, and 'Persons Unknown' may have been one of the hidden jewels of the year. Let's forget about 'Happy Town' though.

'Ghost Whisperer.' CBS canceled the supernatural show after five seasons.

'The Good Guys.' A lot of people had high hopes for this Bradley Whitford/Colin Hanks comedy cop show, but the writing was on the wall early and it only lasted one season.

'The Hasselhoffs.' This was canceled after only two episodes, which means we all got a Christmas present from A&E this year!

'Heroes.' A lot of people thought this show should have been canceled a season earlier (if not before that). But that's rather unfair. It was still an entertaining show up to the end, even if it was inconsistent and couldn't recapture that first season magic.

'Important Things with Demetri Martin.' After two seasons, the comic's observational humor show came to an end. Martin has signed a deal with CBS to develop a show there.

'Larry King Live.' After 26 years, CNN decided to end King's show and replace him with Piers Morgan. We'll see how that goes.

'Law & Order.' The long-running NBC drama came to an end, but we still have 'Law and Order: SVU' and 'Law and Order: Los Angeles.' Oh, and a billion reruns on cable.

'Lone Star.' This Fox drama got a ton of hype, buzz, and many critics named it the best new show of the year! And then no one watched it. It will make for a good trivia question some day though.

'Lost.' After six seasons, the half intriguing/half-frustrating drama came to an end with most of the characters in an afterlife church. Whether you loved the finale or hated it (or found yourself in-between), 'Lost' definitely got viewers talking.

'Miami Medical.' Is anyone really going to miss this show? Assuming you remember it? CBS canceled it after only one short season.

'My Generation.' A lot of people could have guessed just from the promos that this ABC drama would be canceled after only one season. Two episodes, to be exact.

'Outlaw.' This NBC drama -- with Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court Justice who quits to help the little people -- made most "worst" lists for the year, and it surprised no one when NBC pulled the plug quickly. Being on Fridays probably didn't help.

'Party Down.' If you stopped 10 random people on the street and asked them if they had watched this comedy, 9 (if not 10) of them would have looked at you as if you had three heads. But this STARZ show was one of the best of the year. It lasted two seasons.

'Past Life.' I actually had to look up this show because I forgot which one it was. Was it the one on ABC where Christian Slater and his team found missing persons? No, it was the one on FOX where Kelli Giddish solved crimes involving past lives and repressed memories. It lasted three episodes.

'Romantically Challenged.' This Alyssa Milano ABC rom-com fared even worse than 'The Deep End.' It was canceled after only four episodes.

'Rubicon.' This was one of the more sad cancellations of the year. A well-done, stylish, different type of spy drama that deserved a second season but won't have one. AMC went with 'The Walking Dead' instead.

'Terriers.' Like 'Rubicon,' this modern-day noir-ish drama deserved a second season. Like a lot of fans, I'm still surprised FX didn't give it one.

'Ugly Betty.' The once-great ABC comedy-drama limped to its end last April.

'Undercovers.' JJ Abrams had two shows that he produced end this year, 'Lost' and this new take on the romantic spy show. Not a terrible show, but there was nothing that stood out about it either.

OH NO I was SUPER IMPULSIVE TODAY

I saw this advertised on Facebook Clicked the link and bought 2 tickets :) how fun :)

We all see the sun drop behind the horizon day after day (though this isn’t always the case for certain office dwellers), but watching the sunset in the open sea is a completely different phenomenon. For $12.50, Newport Landing Cruises will take you out for a 90-minute Sunset Cruise with complementary chips and salsa (originally $25). Admire the red-orange glow as it reflects off the rippling surface of an unfathomably large body of water. Within minutes, this breathtaking moment melts into a crystal clear view of shimmering stars*, with no interference from adjacent city lights.This setting is perfect for a romantic outing or for the entire family.

For those at legal drinking age, try their ice cold Newport Bay margaritas or beer to go along with the unlimited chips and salsa. Enhance the flavor of your snacks and refreshments with the view of the Newport Beach coastline and multi-million dollar yachts, which no condiment can reproduce. By paying an additional $15, this Perk can be upgraded to the Unlimited Drink Package, which includes several different types of mixed drinks, beer, and wine ($40 value).

Reservations are required, so call ahead or go to their website, to save your spot for the 7pm-8:30pm Sunset Cruises. Parking is available in their parking lot and parking garage, both of which cost $8 for a full day.*shimmeriness of stars may vary from trip to trip and depend on the cooperation of clouds.

LOOK where I am going

Bill Cosby is, by any standards, one of the most influential stars in America today. Whether it be through concert appearances or recordings, television or films, commercials or education, Bill Cosby has the ability to touch people’s lives. His humor often centers on the basic cornerstones of our existence, seeking to provide an insight into our roles as parents, children, family members, and men and women. Without resorting to gimmickry or lowbrow humor, Bill Cosby’s comedy has a point of reference and respect for the trappings and traditions of the great American humorists such as Mark Twain, Buster Keaton and Jonathan Winters.

His lifelong contributions to American culture were recognized with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1998 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in July 2002, America’s highest civilian honor.
On October 26, 2009, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presented Mr. Cosby with the 12th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The Mark Twain Prize recognizes people who have had an impact on American society in ways similar to the distinguished 19th century novelist and essayist best known as Mark Twain. In June 2009, Major League Baseball honored him with the Beacon of Hope Award for his civil rights work.

Bill Cosby represents the voice of a vast, ordinary world. Everyone seems to easily identify with his characters and the situations they find themselves in. He gives the twist of the ridiculous to everyday faults, foibles and successes and makes them a recognizable slice of life. Bill Cosby points out the humor in our lives, and in doing so, he touches our hearts. Because of this, his appeal is not restricted to any specific group. His qualities have endeared him to people from all walks of life.

Cosby is one of the best-selling comedians. Nine of Cosby’s albums have been certified Gold Records and six have been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Many of his expressions have become part of the jargon of this generation, like his famous drawn-out “riiiiiiiiight.” He establishes a rare rapport with all audiences.
About his performances Cosby says, “I feel that in-person contact with people is the most important thing in comedy. While I’m up on stage, I can actually put myself into the audience and adjust my pace and timing to them. I can get into their heads through their ears and through their eyes. Only through this total communication can I really achieve what I’m trying to do.”
The Fox Performing Arts Center is proud to host Bill Cosby for two shows on June 5, 2010, at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

This is the most beautiful advice I have ever received.

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'
1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

Oceanside - today

What a great day. Tim and I slept in, got up and did a few things around the house, then headed off to camp pendleton to get in on some of the memorial day sells. That is always fun, it use to be funner when i was not able to buy anything, but times have changed. Once tim and i got married i got my own ID card and i am now able to shop and spend my money. I got a new shirt, a new necklace, a new cd and to spend the day with the most awesome man in the world. After shopping we went to dinner at Anita's, after dinner we headed to walk down PCH to check out some cute stores, I got myself a few new bracelets and then we headed down to the beach, but not before we stopped at the cutest coffee shop to pick up some coffee and hot chocolate (it was a little chilly) and then we walked the pier, checking out all the freaks that were still in the water but not before we say this sign ...
