Outdoor Wednesday

Outdoor Wednesday is hosted by the lovely susan over at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/
I have not participated in a couple of weeks due to time. But this week i am caught up on my chores and activities and wanted to share with you all a little bit about our snorkeling trip to La Jolla Ca back in Sept. My husband and I have been together for 14 years and married for one (i would explain but that would take way too long and probably cause you all to need therapy) ... anyways we are always looking for something fun to do. He mentioned that we should go back to the place where we met. Camp Pendleton, CA when i was searching for something to do for the weekend a snorkeling trip popped up, well neither of us had done that so we booked it. So for 1 year of marriage we each gave each other paper yes a paper ticket to snorkel. We managed to get to La Jolla early and find parking (WOW that was amazing) here are a few pixs before we went into the water. The cove is just beautiful and so peaceful. It was almost eerie to think about what was out there for us to see! Armed with only the brief knowledge of ho9w to snorkel from the guides we work our way into the water. BRRRRRRRRR it is cold and the guide tells us to just dive in and get wet it will be easier than easing our self into the water. SO i did ... brrrrrrrrrrrrr. Enjoy the remaining photos that we were able to take with our 35 mm underwater reusable cameras!
And we chose to spend the night at Camp Pendleton near the place where we met ... ahhhhhhhhh i did marry a romantic guy!!!

How to SNORKEL

Gotta do the research!

1) Always employ the “buddy system” when snorkeling safely. In other words, never, ever snorkel alone, stay close to your partner and check your surroundings often.
Step 2
2) When snorkeling, always slick your hair back with water before putting on your mask. And if you have long hair, definitely pull it back into a pony tail high on top of your head and above your mask strap
Step 3
3) Clear your mask of fog, water or debris and blow any water droplets out of your snorkel.
Step 4
4) Because first time snorkelers have a tendency to hold their breath once in the water, it is important to instead, focus on calmly breathing in and out until you feel comfortable with the equipment.
Step 5
5) Once you are floating above a tropical paradise, keep in mind that the beautiful coral beneath you can also be quite sharp and dangerous. Be sure to always keep ample space between you and the coral.
Step 6
6) And finally, if you are in trouble, utilize the universal snorkeling signal for help which is waving both of your arms over your head.

What to do for our anniversary

WOW a year has passed since we made that awesome journey to the alter!
We decided to go back to the place where we met to celebrate, Oceanside, Ca just outside the Marine Corp base. We have booked a few nights in our favorite inn!
To pass the day we have decided to go snorkeling. Yes there is snorkeling in Southern Cali!
Of course we have to drive 2 hours to get there but that is okay! It will so be worth it!
We are going to snorkel in La Jolla, Ca!
Look for upcoming posts on snorkeling as I learn before I go!
