A Family Secret

I have been with my husband over 20 years married for almost 10. Every year we indulge in something called Biscochitos. it is a cookie with roots in NM. It is an amazing smell when you walk in a restaurant and they are baking. I have tried for years to get my hands on a family recipe to no avail. Well doing some genealogy research and attending my MIL service in 2016 I met some of the most amazing people. Tim's cousin Donna shared her grandmas recipe with me. Oh the excitement the tears the goosebumps. Tim's cousin grandma is Tim's mom's sister which means somewhere in this recipe is things that Nana did --- I can't tell you how excited I AM.
The secret to good cookies is using lard . It makes them very tender .
1c sugar , 2 cups pure lard , 1tsp anise seed , cream mixture together until creamy , add 2 eggs beaten , add 6 c flour 3 tsp baking powder , 1 tsp salt , 1/4c water as needed . Roll dough , cut in shapes , dust top of cookies with sugar and cinnamon mix . Bake at 350 for 8 -10 min or until golden brown . That's it , let me know how they come out . Happy holidays .

Pages 98- 100 ...

WOW it felt good to scrap again. They are pretty simple layouts and really not a lot of them accomplished. The 2 double page layouts were completed a few weeks ago and just not posted. I used premade page swaps to complete these pages. The pictures of thanksgiving were all taken by the girls. It was interesting to see what they took pictures of and i must share that the majority of the pictures were of the TV. LOL I dug deeper into my stash of swaps and found the gobble gooble tag and the thanksgiving poem. I used an entire sheet of fall rubons for the second double page layout. TAYLOR was a simple layout using some stash of flowers and maya road ribbon. I used precut photo mats. It has really helped to cut my scraps down to 4x6 and file them in the CM blue photo files as they are now at my finger tips no more sorting and no more wasting a whole sheet of paper for a single photo mat. so beautiful is kelsie. I used a photo stack of junkitz paper (courtesy of Trisha) to create the squares, brads and flowers from my stash. DINNER alphabets are from my stash (which never seems to dwindle in color shapes or sizes (i love alphas). I did not title the 2 page layout of devontae. But i did manage to use a healthy stash of buttons on this layout. This single layout of taylor was a decorative piece of paper (courtesy of trisha) i used glitter on the clouds and stickles on the flowers, a simple mat of the pictures give this paper a lot of pop.
Thanks for looking!!
