BIG BEAR DAM

A drive up the mountains to camp is always an adventure but never more so than when you take 2 13 year old boys. Our weekend started on 9/1. I took the day off, so i could pack the truck and be ready to go when the boys got out of school at 3:30, which i am happy to report i was there and ready to pick them up on time. We loaded their stuff in the truck and started the journey up the mountain only to be halted at the base of the mountain for a police escort up the mountain. It seems that over time mother nature has worn away one of the roads that lead up the mountain. Never fear though we made it up the mountain before dark, got camp set up, and slept. We arose early on saturday morning for our first days fun. The day started out with breakfast (pictures to follow in separate blog) then a drive around BIG BEAR LAKE. The following pictures were taken at the dam.
This is Derrick (my nephew), tim and cody (derrick's friend). The boys thought it would be fun to scare the dickens out of me and climb down the rocks. I will have you know that i followed and follwed on my behind ... yes i fell down the rock trail. No worse for the wear, just some bumps and bruises.

This is a view from the lake, wouldn't a cabin up their be an awesome place for a winter home?
