Today in History - JUNE 27

As my life is boring and I didn't do any layouts, but thanks to Anne on my piffing group i got some great cropper hopper paper sorters and have spent the last 2 nights sorting paper. It is looking good! Thanks Anne.

President Harry S. Truman ordered the Air Force and Navy into the Korean War.

1959
Lorrie Morgan born in Nashville, Tennessee


1969
Police and gays clashed at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, fostering the gay rights movement.

1985
The legendary Route 66, running from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif., was decertified, the victim of the Interstate Highway System.

2003
The national do-not-call registry, formed to combat unwanted telemarketing calls and administered by the Federal Trade Commission, enrolled almost three-quarters of a million phone numbers on its first day.

Man, so sad with that do not call list! That's what Brian does for a living! PLUS, they took away those jobs and are still calling, only from New Delhi and other foreign countries where those laws don't apply, taking away jobs from Americans... Of course, I may be a LITTLE BIAS...

Wow the 'decertified' Rt. 66? I guess since now it's a historical route, huh? Do you know that I live VERY close to it's path?? Perhaps one day I shall take some pics and share, we often contemplate on a long driving trip on that historic route - so how far is Santa Monica from you??
