Derrick
got the best letter in the mail (he got one of 40, that were sent to aspiring baseball players (there are like 38,000 aspiring players)) it was from Coast to Coast Amateur Athletics offering him the chance to come try out to be on their team. Tryouts are 9/13 in costa mesa and 9/14 in palm desert.
Derrick will try out on 9/13 in costa mesa!
What an AWESOME opportunity and experience for Derrick
As an Aunt and Uncle we are so proud of him
As grandparents my parents are beaming
My sister and bil are so proud and excited for him and then both decided to get second jobs to pay for this .... lol
CONGRATULATIONS DERRICK!
Formed in the fall of 1999, Coast to Coast Amateur Athletics, Inc. was formally incorporated in May, 2000 with the express purpose of providing young amateurs with a taste of what it is like to play the game at its highest levels. The program is open to players ages 11-12, 13-15, & 16-18. Based in Marietta (OH), the organization has scouts in over 30 states around the country.
Over the past eight years, Coast to Coast players have been featured in over 500 different newspapers across the USA. The organization has also been fortunate to receive both television (NBC) and radio (ESPN) coverage. In February 2002, executives of the High School Sports Network (HSSN) accompanied 4 teams of college-bound athletes to Puerto Rico to report back on the Coast to Coast program. The company was subsequently featured on the HSSN program, "High School Sportshow America," with host, Adam Stanco.
Since its inception, Coast to Coast has seen to it that nearly 1600 players from 46 different states as well as Canada, Mexico, Germany and the Dominican Republic have represented their country in competition all across the globe. Many of the program’s alumni have now gone on to play baseball at both the collegiate and professional levels (see ALUMNI section of the website).
Coast to Coast selects players from a series of tryouts held nationwide each fall and winter. The organization also accepts athletes that have been recommended directly by a college coach or professional scout. Once selected, players may choose to represent the USA in competition in Puerto Rico, or work with top college coaches and pro scouts at one of our Florida Camp & Showcase events held at a MLB spring-training complex.
With a combination of excellent coaching, outstanding competition, and unparalleled education, Coast to Coast Baseball prepares the nation’s top amateur players for success at the collegiate and professional level.
