As young children we were asked the age-old question,
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” For some, our ideas changed
through the years. For others, our passion rooted deep early on. Either way, we
all wanted to know what we were made for. Fortunately, scripture sheds light on
this.
…that our God will count you worthy of this
calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with
power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in
Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2
Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NKJV)
As believers, we hold a corporate calling to
worship and glorify God. The Westminster Catechism asks, “What is the chief end
of man?” and the answer is, “To Glorify God and enjoy Him forever.”
1. Has God prompted your
heart with specific assignments? If so, list them.
2. What are your deepest
burdens, and your unique strengths? Are there places you see these two
overlapping?
